One of the most obvious changes is in posture. Space Neutral Body Posture is a
simian-like crouch resulting in a decrease in effective body height, a lowered sight line, and a shift of body center of mass.
This assumed posture is an important consideration when designing vehicles, equipment, and workstations.
Of particular concern are body restraints at workstations and handholds or handrails along travel routes.
At the left, a person with normal earth posture
faces a 1-G workstation. At the right, the same person and the same workstation
are poorly matched.
Size variation among crewmembers, the lowered
head angle, straight spine, tip-toe foot angle, floating arms, and arched
shoulders may need to be considered in workstation design.
